Beef Stroganoff

  1. Brown 2 lbs round steak, cut into 1" cubes [ 2.1 lbs @ $2.99/lb = $6.28, 1.5lbs = $7.47 22sep2014 ] in 3T olive oil.
  2. Add 2 T wheat flour and mix well.
  3. Stir in and mix well:
    • 2t tumeric
    • 1 small red hot pepper
    • chili poeder
    • generous paprika
    • 3/4 C beef broth
    • 1 large onion, chopped [ $0.58, $0.90 22sep2014 ]
    • 1 t garlic powder
    • 1/4 lb mushrooms, sliced (1/2 lb) [ $1.59 22sep2014 ]
    • 2 T tomato paste (I used ketchup)
    • 1 T worcestershire sauce
    • 1/2 C red wine
    • Pepper
    • several shakes of hot pepper sauce
    • 1 t mustard powder
  4. Cook for 20 minutes.
  5. Reduce pressure immediately
  6. Stir in 1 C sour cream [ $1.00, $1.39 22sep2014 ]
  7. Server over cooked egg noodles


Notes: Next time: Stir in flour at end instead of beginning to prevent burning?
